Day 7: All Day to Explore Aero Island
Biking Ærø Island
After sleeping in a bit and having breakfast, we packed up and walked to Adam’s bike shop, right behind the little cinema. He outfitted us with a couple bikes and helmets, went over a map with us to plan a route, and sent us off. As Rick says, we were ready to get Ærø-dynamic for the day! Our initial plan was to go all the way to Soby at the end of the island near a light house that was out on a thin strip of land. We didn’t quite get that far and instead headed to the other coast about 2 km from Soby. We really enjoyed the views along both coasts. If we had done the entire loop, it would have been 25 miles. We figure we biked at least 21 miles. Pam was in heaven biking in the countryside, and it was absolutely beautiful outside--68 degrees, mostly sunny, and the wind much less than forecast. Our ride took us a little over 4 hours. |
A Day of Relaxation
We spent the remainder of the day wandering through the cozy town, discovering back alleys, and quaint scenes. We also took advantage of our wonderful room. It had a great little balcony off the back where we enjoyed some drinks and fresh air. It was a great day!
