Day 11: Norwegian Traditions and Scenic Mountains
A Day of Travel and Scenery
Today was mostly a long travel day, but we didn't mind. The scenery was amazing as we drove through miles of natural beauty on the way to our hotel. Along the way, we made a few stops. One was at Bolleland, which is a store famous for their bread. We could see why. It was really good! A bit further down the road, we stopped at a fantastic open air museum in Lillehammer, home of the 1994 Winter Olympics. It was really interesting and beautiful, and we learned a lot about the daily life and traditions of Norwegians. The folk museum features sod-roofed houses and a 12th-century stave church which was constructed entirely from wood. Our next stop was at another one of Norway’s famous stave churches. It was a beautiful afternoon, and the blue sky framed the church gloriously. Eventually, we arrived at our mountain hotel and enjoyed ox for supper. It was really good. |
