Day 10: Beautiful Oslo
We began the day with a walking tour of Oslo. Our guide, Aksel, built on what Asa began explaining yesterday. We went past the palace, parliament, city hall, and the fortress. It was interesting to learn more about Oslo and Norway in general.
After lunch, Pam, Lori and I then set off to explore the opera house--which was amazing. The architecture is so captivating, and you can't help but let your eyes following the lines. It's almost like the building is a sculpture of art in its own right. We also visited the new art museum and saw one of the 4 original Scream paintings by Edvard Munch, a Norwegian painter. Then we went to the courthouse. The highlight was a big room that was really painted up. We also enjoyed the wooden statues carved into the walls along the entrance to the building. Overall, it was a very enjoyable day exploring beautiful Oslo. |
